3D Covalent Organic Frameworks Based on Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons for Reversible Oxygen Capture

Singlet oxygen, as a kind of reactive oxygen species, plays an important role in organic synthesis and biological processes. However, these excited molecules have short life high reactivity; thus it is great challenge to capture singlet oxygen. Here, for the first time two functionalized 3D covalent frameworks (3D COFs) with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, termed JUC-575 JUC-576, reversible release are reported. These COFs, constructed from anthracene or naphthalene derivatives, can effectively trap through chemical transformation generate corresponding endoperoxide COFs (EPO-COFs). Furthermore, also confirmed that between parent EPO-COFs be well controlled by switching UV–vis irradiation. This study broadens potential applications molecular carriers biology synthesis.
